WANT TO GET INTO PRESSING? JOIN THE PRESS GANG

The Blog

In mechanical and industrial applications, the tools you use can significantly impact the quality of your work and the efficiency of your processes. Among these indispensable tools are angled press jaws. These specialised components have revolutionised various industries by offering unique advantages over traditional pressing tools. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the world of angled press jaws, exploring their design, benefits, applications, and tips for choosing the right ones for your needs.

What Are Angled Press Jaws?

Angled press jaws are mechanical components used in conjunction with press tools to manipulate materials, typically metals or composites, into desired shapes or connections. Unlike standard press jaws that operate in a straight, linear motion, angled press jaws are designed to apply force at an angle. This design allows for more complex and precise movements, making them ideal for specialized tasks.

Key Benefits of Angled Press Jaws

  1. Enhanced Precision: The angled design allows for more controlled and accurate application of force, resulting in cleaner and more precise outcomes.
  2. Versatility: Angled press jaws can be used in a variety of applications, from pipe fitting and plumbing to automotive repairs and manufacturing.
  3. Improved Accessibility: Their design enables them to reach and operate in tight or awkward spaces that would be difficult or impossible with traditional press jaws.
  4. Efficiency: By enabling more precise operations, angled press jaws can reduce the time and effort required to complete tasks, leading to greater overall efficiency.

Common Applications

  1. Plumbing: In plumbing, angled press jaws are frequently used for crimping and fitting pipes, particularly in tight spaces where traditional tools cannot reach.
  2. Automotive Industry: They are used in the automotive sector for tasks such as assembling components and repairing parts where precision is critical.
  3. Construction: Angled press jaws are valuable in construction for securing joints and fittings, ensuring robust and reliable connections.
  4. Manufacturing: In manufacturing, these tools help in the assembly of complex machinery and equipment, where precision and reliability are paramount.

Choosing the Right Angled Press Jaws

When selecting angled press jaws for your specific needs, consider the following factors:

  1. Material Compatibility: Ensure the jaws are designed to handle the materials you will be working with, such as steel, copper, or plastic.
  2. Jaw Angle: Different tasks may require different angles of operation. Choose jaws with an angle that suits your specific application.
  3. Durability: Look for jaws made from high-quality, durable materials that can withstand the pressures and stresses of your work environment.
  4. Ease of Use: Consider how easy the jaws are to attach and detach from your press tool, as well as how simple they are to operate.
